The Allen Morris Company, one of the largest diversified real estate firms in the Southeast with a 46-year presence and legacy in Atlanta, announced today development plans for Star Metals, a US$210 million mixed-use development in the West Midtown Neighborhood of Atlanta.
The development consists of a Class A mixed-use development including multi-family residential building, along with a Class A office building directly across the street, with ground floor retail.
Both buildings celebrate West Midtown’s authentic and historical culture while offering a well-rounded premier lifestyle to its tenants, residents and retail customers.

The building will also include 16,500 square feet of ground floor retail which will offer residents convenient restaurants and services.
The 12-story Star Metals Offices project will offer approximately 185,000 rentable square feet of Class A office space, 30,000 square feet of high ceiling retail on the ground floor, four levels of parking, along with rich tenant amenities and an above market parking ratio of 3.5 spaces per 1,000 square feet. The office amenities will include lushly landscaped outdoor terraces and a panoramic rooftop restaurant with views of Buckhead, Midtown and Downtown. Office tenants will also benefit from the numerous and easily accessible amenities of the evolving West Midtown neighborhood.
Both buildings are conveniently situated near Georgia Tech, and the development will establish itself as a positive and strategic location at a time when Atlanta’s booming economic and employment growth is attracting top talent.
The Allen Morris Company, which has a rich legacy in Atlanta, has secured the services of award-winning and internationally respected design architect Chad Oppenheim of Oppenheim Architecture to envision both uniquely designed buildings, while maintaining the integrity of West Midtown’s character. Warner Summers Architecture and Interior Design firm was appointed to design the office building, while DWELL Design Studio and Lord Aeck Sargent will design the residences.
Both buildings were designed to reflect the historical composition and materials of the old rail yards West Midtown is known for, while incorporating modern luxury and contemporary amenities that will enhance the West Midtown community.
“Although Atlanta has always been a great place to live and work, West Midtown’s cultural center of gravity is becoming stronger and the economic and lifestyle potential is greater than ever before,” said W. Allen Morris, Chairman and CEO of The Allen Morris Company. “Our collaboration with Oppenheim Architecture and Warner Summers Architecture and Interior Design for the offices; and DWELL Design Studio and Lord Aeck Sargent for the residences is an unmatched opportunity to celebrate the authenticity of West Midtown. We see our sites as fundamental building blocks and a keystone in West Midtown’s evolution where tenants and residents can enjoy a well-rounded lifestyle.”
Slated to begin construction on the multi-family building in the third quarter of 2016, the Star Metals Offices building located at 1055 Howell Mill Road will be situated directly across the street from the development’s Star Metals Residences, which are located at 1050 Howell Mill Road.
Star Metals Offices is designed to cater to professionals and progressive companies seeking an authentic workplace to recruit and retain Atlanta’s most talented, tech-savvy workforce. Its central location in West Midtown’s trendy neighborhood, formerly known as a rail traffic hub, affords residents and tenants the accessibility to enjoy modern living and work spaces while being just footsteps away from the epicenter of Atlanta’s booming restaurant scene, high-end shops and everyday conveniences.
Star Metals Offices is being leased by the Atlanta office of Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) as exclusive leasing agents, headed by Jeff Bellamy, Managing Director of JLL. “Star Metals will deliver an authentic architectural style that has not been seen in Atlanta before. “For seven generations, my family has always been highly involved in the Atlanta community and building projects that serve the area like Star Metals was a natural step for us,” concludes Morris. “We are proud to have assembled world-class architectural teams that believe in developing projects that enhance Atlanta and inspire those who live, work and play in the community.”
